“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Ps 94:19
ISRAELIS FACE MAJOR PRICE HIKES: Israelis on Wednesday saw the prices of basic state goods go up by one percent following an increase of sales tax to 16.5%. That means the price of bread, salt and other common staple goods has increased by an amount that will greatly impact the country's poorer sectors of society. The price of fuel in Israel also rose by 20 cents per gallon overnight. Additionally, Israel's Water Authority is working hard to push a bill through the Knesset that will significantly increase the cost of water. The increase will see Israelis pay 250% more for every cubic meter of water over the permitted monthly amount. Consumer groups are worried the new taxes will also result in local businesses hiking up their prices. (Israel Today) Please continue to pray for Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse teams as they persevere to faithfully assist entire households suffering from poverty, the elderly and others in need in Israel.
EU STATES MAY RECALL IRAN ENVOYS AFTER UK EMBASSY ARRESTS: Iran's standoff with the West escalated with the European Union considering pulling out all 27 of its ambassadors in retaliation for the recent detentions of several local employees of the British Embassy in Tehran. The arrests last week ratcheted up tensions over Iran's bloody crackdown on opposition protesters who disputed the results of last month's presidential election. In a further sign of deteriorating ties, Iran said Wednesday the EU had disqualified itself from talks over Tehran’s nuclear program because of its "interference" in the post-election unrest. Iran accuses the EU of supporting the anti-government rallies. (Ha’aretz)
US CAN’T GET ARABS TO COMMIT TO NORMAL ISRAEL TIES: The US administration has not been successful in securing commitments from Arab countries to take steps toward normalizing relations with Israel, a senior source in Jerusalem said Wednesday. US President Obama's recent meeting with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia did not produce a commitment to encourage the other Arab states to begin normalization. "In such a situation, the Americans can't continue demanding gestures only from Israel, such as the insistence that Israel freeze settlement construction," the source said. In response, a senior White House official said talks with the Arab states are continuing with the aim of obtaining a commitment to make gestures toward the Jewish state, and there is still hope for progress. (Ha’aretz) “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” Amos 3:3
WILL OBAMA TAKE JERUSALEM FROM THE JEWS?: The Center for American Progress, an American think tank which has served as a source for several of the Obama administration’s policies, issued a recent report recommending control of Jerusalem be taken away from Israel. Operating with the premise that the Old City of Jerusalem is the central problem in the peace process, the report discusses various options for a third-party entity that would replace Israel as its administrator. A liberal political policy research and advocacy organization, the Center for American Progress’s, reports have frequently stated the thinking of the Obama Administration. The organization rightly predicted Obama’s Cairo speech to the Muslim world and his attempts to re-establish diplomatic relations with Iran. (INN) “The Lord foils the plans of the nations, He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.” Ps 33: 10-11
CARGO BOAT ATTEMPTING ILLEGAL ENTRY INTO GAZAN WATERS INTERCEPTED: An Israel Navy force intercepted, boarded, and took control of the cargo boat “Arion” this week, which was illegally attempting to enter the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Navy contacted the boat while at sea, but it disregarded all warnings. It then entered Gazan coastal waters and was diverted to the Israeli port of Ashdod. An Israel Defense spokesman stressed that any organization wishing to transfer humanitarian aid to Gaza must do so legally via established crossings between Israel and Gaza with prior coordination. (Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
ROME GIVES HONORARY CITIZENSHIP TO GILAD SHALIT: Rome has given honorary citizenship to Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier kidnapped by Hamas terrorists three years ago and who still remains in capitivity. Shalit's father, Noam Shalit, received the honor at a city hall ceremony Wednesday. The city council voted to give Shalit honorary citizenship to coincide with the third anniversary of his capture by terrorists in a cross-border raid from Gaza into Israel. (AP) “You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.” Ps 71:21
LAST REMAINING US JEWISH REPUBLICAN SENATOR LOSES SEAT: The defeat of incumbent Norm Coleman in the drawn-out Minnesota Senate race leaves US Republicans without a Jewish senator for the first time in half a century. Coleman's departure comes two months after the Republicans' other Jewish member, Arlen Specter, switched parties to become a Democrat. (AP)
INDIA: FIRST CONVICTION FOR SECTARIAN ATTACKS: An Indian court has handed down its first sentence following a series of attacks on Christians in an eastern state last year. The first person convicted has been jailed for two years. Some 800 cases have been filed in courts in connection with anti-Christian assaults that broke out in Kandhamal last year after the murder of a Hindu religious leader. Hindus blamed Christians for the leader’s death and rampaged through predominantly Christian neighborhoods, ransacking shops and torching houses. About 38 people, many of them Christians, were killed in that violence. (CNN)
ISRAEL UNVEILS HUGE MOSAIC FROM EARLY CHRISTIAN TIMES: A detailed mosaic scene of two fish was viewed by the public last weekend after it was unveiled in Lod for only the second time since its discovery. The 600-square-foot 1,700-year-old Roman floor mosaic is made up of more than two million small stones and covered with detailed pictures and geometric shapes.. The Israel Antiquities agency is presently lacking funds to properly protect it for ongoing public display. (Fox News)
RESEARCHERS DISCOVER SELF-WATERING PLANT IN ISRAEL: Called the world’s first “self-watering” plant, the Desert Rhubarb discovered in Israel’s Negev desert holds 16 times more water than other regional foliage and can water itself. Researchers from the University of Haifa said the plant’s meter-wide giant leaves are covered in microscopic streams and ridges which funnel and channel water, as well as prevent evaporation. This enables it to harvest 16 times the amount of water than otherwise expected for a plant in this region. (INN) “He brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers.” Ps 78:16
PACK TO SCHOOL: Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse assemble backpacks containing essential materials and supplies to assist poor children each school year. As we prepare to provide thousands of needy youngsters with school bags and supplies for September 2009, we realize there are not enough collected funds to cover the total cost of this year’s project. Meeting the needs of Israel’s children is a cause close to God's heart and we trust Him to bring in the lacking finances. Please remember that our treasures are stored in heaven and help us to bless thousands of poverty stricken Israeli children this coming school year.

"Arise, O Lord, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in Your presence." Ps 9:19
ISRAEL TO HOLD EARLY ELECTIONS: Tzipi Livni called for new general elections in Israel, saying she failed to form a coalition government. Livni, the foreign minister and prime minister-designate, won the Kadima Party primary in September following Ehud Olmert's resignation. But she was unable to assemble a governing majority and on Sunday said she would not ask Israel's president, Shimon Peres, for more time to bring coalition partners on board. (JTA)
PALESTINIAN MURDERS ISRAELI IN JERUSALEM: A Palestinian was shot and captured after stabbing two Israelis in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo on Thursday. Two police officers stopped the Arab for questioning when he pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them. The wounded policeman fired at the terrorist, but he continued to attack and stabbed a passerby before he was apprehended. The 86-year-old civilian later died of his wounds. (J.Post)
FAMILY MOURNS STABBING VICTIM: Friends and family of Avraham Ozeri, 86, murdered in last week's Jerusalem stabbing attack, voiced sorrow and anger at the killing of the man they described as "salt of the earth." "My father was a man whom everyone loved. To stab a man such as this - and at his age - is an animal-like act," said Ozeri's son. (Ha'aretz)
HAMAS DEMANDS RELEASE OF NOTORIOUS KILLERS: Several murderers are among the 1,500 jailed terrorists Hamas is demanding in exchange for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. The list includes Fatkhi Abu-Sheikh who in 2002 dispatched a suicide bomber to the Park Hotel in Netanya where he murdered 30 Jews and wounded 140 in the tragic "Passover massacre." Atiya Warda sent two suicide bombers to the number 18 bus line in Jerusalem during February and March of l996. The dual attacks killed a total of 45 people and wounded dozens. Hamas wants Warda also set free in a prisoner exchange deal for Shalit. "Justice is turned back and righteousness stands afar off, for truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter." Is 59:14
KUNTAR: I WON'T REST UNTIL ISRAEL IS DESTROYED: Three months after being released from an Israeli jail in a prisoner swap deal with Hizbullah, Lebanese terrorist and child-killer Samir Kuntar claims he is more committed than ever towards working to destroy the Jewish state. "As long as there is something called Israel in this region, the resistance must continue. I am ready to take part in any resistance mission," said Kuntar. (J.Post) "The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men." Ps 12:8
MISSOURI STUDENTS ORGANIZE HIT A JEW DAY: A school district spokesman for Parkway Middle School in Chesterfield, Missouri said one of the saddest things about last week's, student-organized "Hit A Jew Day" was a lot of kids knew it about it but didn't say anything to school officials. On this antisemitic occasion at least 10 children were struck on the back by fellow classmates and one was slapped in the face for being Jewish. Others stood by taunting the Jewish youngsters or encouraging their class mates to deliver the hits. Officials said those directly involved could face suspension and required counseling. (AP)
AHMADINEJAD'S HEALTH DETERIORATING: Iranian sources say the health of their president is declining. According to a top aid, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - who has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel - is coping with fatigue caused by low blood pressure and a work overload. The 52-year-old leader has canceled all public appearances and meetings during the past week. Some reports have speculated Ahmadinejad will not be fit to run for an additional presidential term next year. (J.Post)
SPY PIGEONS ARRESTED IN IRAN: Iranian intelligence sources claimed last week they arrested two pigeons near the Nantaz nuclear site. The birds - one in possession of a black metal ring with invisible strings - were charged with espionage. Months ago, the Islamic Republic arrested 12 squirrels for spying. According to Iran's state-sponsored news agency, the squirrels, who were toting foreign spy gear, were captured by quick thinking intelligence agents before the rodents could carry out their mission. (Yahoo) "Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom - a bird of the air may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say. Eccles 10:20
WORLD'S RICHEST JEW LOSES BILLIONS IN WORLD FINANCIAL CRISIS: US Jewish billionaire Sheldon Adelson has seen $10 billion melt away since the beginning of the month. Adelson owns 70% of the shares of the Las Vegas Sands (LVS). In less than four week's time LVS corporation shares have plunged by 80%. Analysts attribute the drop in LVS stocks to a general decline in the public's willingness to gamble or vacation at resorts that provide gaming services. Adelson's losses will be felt among a number of Israeli charities, which are recipients of the billionaire's financial support (Ha'aretz) "Cast but a glance at riches and they are gone. They will sprout wings and fly off to the sky." Prov 23:5

Proverbs Chapter 23
1: When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
2: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
3: Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
4: Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
5: Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
6: Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
7: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
8: The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
9: Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
10: Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
11: For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
12: Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
13: Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
14: Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
15: My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
16: Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
17: Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
18: For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
19: Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
20: Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
21: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
22: Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
23: Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
24: The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
25: Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
26: My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
27: For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
28: She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.
29: Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
30: They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
31: Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
32: At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
33: Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
34: Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
35: They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

"Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'" Romans: 8:35,36
PERSECUTION OF JEWISH BELIEVERS IN ISRAEL: Persecution of Jewish believers in Israel is increasing in both frequency and intensity. The Messianic community in Israel numbers about 15,000, spread out in roughly 120 congregations across the nation. The community members, who believe there is no contradiction between being Jewish and believing Jesus (Yeshua) to have been the Savior and the Son of God, has been steadily growing. About half of the community's membership was born Jewish. Please pray for the comfort and healing of Ortiz family and their beloved son, Ami. Their tragic story is reported below. Pray those guilty of this heinous crime will be apprehended and for the protection of believers in Israel.
SON OF MESSIANIC JEWISH LEADERS WOUNDED BY PURIM BASKET BOMB: Members of Israel's Messianic movement, both Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua, remain stunned and grieved by last week's terrorist attack on the family of Messianic leaders in Ariel. A traditional gift-basket filled with sweets and baked goods, exchanged between neighbors and loved ones during the Purim holiday, was delivered to David and Leah Ortiz's home last Thursday afternoon. Their 15 yr. old son Ami who was alone in the house opened it and it exploded, severely injuring the boy's neck and head and causing the family's apartment to be engulfed in flames. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition. It is a miracle he is alive in view of the magnitude of the explosion. Ami's life is no longer in danger, but he is still suffering from serious injuries all over his body. His father reports: "His neck had an eight-inch gash like someone slit his throat. He has a ruptured lung. Doctors had to operate on his tongue. He has second-degree burns to his chest and arms, and there is no flesh on the thighs. He added doctors were forced to amputate two toes. "They're trying to make sure he won't lose his arms and legs. His whole body is full of fragments of shrapnel." Judea and Samaria Police admit radical Jews may have targeted the family. Ortiz described a long history of tensions with Yad Le'achim and other Orthodox activists in Ariel: "My neighbor said he had been told by religious Jews that if we were the only ones living in this building, they would have bombed it. They put posters all over town warning residents to keep away from us and calling for us to be excommunicated, and there was a demonstration in front of our house," said Ortiz. "I have served in the reserves for 15 years. All of my children went to school here, they are normal children, we are normal people. Ami is the captain of his school basketball team." All too often when Ultra Orthodox Jewish groups are behind such events they are never brought to justice. The news fades away and further investigations along with it. (JNN editors/Israel media sources)
YAD LE'ACHIM RABBI SAYS MESSIANIC JEWS ARE THE ENEMY: Rabbi Shalom Lipshitz, head of Yad Le'achim, the largest anti-missionary organization in Israel, said following the bomb attack on the Ortiz family child, he saw the Messianic community as an enemy to the Jewish people. "There is no one who hates Jews more than they do," said Lipshitz. "They are trying to uproot Jewish faith, just like the Spanish did in the Inquisition. They prey on Jews who do not know anything about Jewish heritage. We try to explain the 'truth.' We try to tell people that you cannot be Jewish and believe in Jesus at the same time. It just doesn't go together. " Our job at Yad Le'achim is to make sure the Jewish people gets bigger, and fight people who are trying to make it smaller," said Rabbi Lipshitz. (J.Post)
ATTACK ON BOY ONE OF MANY: Members of the Messianic community in Israel said Monday that while the near-fatal attack last week on 15-year-old Ami Ortiz of Ariel marks a major escalation, it comes after years of anti-missionary violence directed at the community by both Jews and Muslims. "We get the feeling that nobody in Israel is willing to take a strong stand against violent anti-missionary activity," said Jewish-born, Beersheba pastor, Howard Bass. "We have experienced numerous attacks on the Messianic communities by Ultra Orthodox Jews over the years. Just this week two surveillance cameras that monitor our house of prayer were stolen." Last Saturday, during prayers at the 100-strong congregation, a group of Ultra Orthodox Jews stood outside and shouted insults, temporarily stopping the prayers. In December 2005, Bass's congregation was attacked by hundreds of haredi demonstrators who received the backing of the local rabbinic leadership. Police did not press charges against the assailants who forced their way into the church and forcibly stopped the baptism of two Israelis. The intruders threw chairs around and pushed Bass into the baptismal pool. (J.Post)
PERSECUTION OF MESSIANIC BELIEVERS IN ARAD: In Arad, another flashpoint for tension between the Messianic community and Orthodox Jews, the Chasdei Yeshua Congregation has been harassed repeatedly by the local Hassidic community. "They've verbally attacked us on a regular basis and they even tried to burn down our chess club last February," reported one member of the congregation. (J.Post)
CENTRAL JERUSALEM CHURCH TARGET FOR ARSON: In late Nov. 2007, a church in central Jerusalem was set afire before dawn and suffered extensive damage. Arsonists, suspected to be extremist Jews, forced their way into the church and set fires in three different places. The sanctuary had been burned down in 1982 by an ultra Orthodox Jewish group and later rebuilt. In both cases the arsonists were never brought to justice. (Israel Press)

1: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6: And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7: He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9: And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10: And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11: Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12: And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14: And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15: And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16: And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17: And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18: And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19: And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20: The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21: And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22: And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23: And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24: And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25: And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26: And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27: And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Prayer Letter – December 23, 2007
JNN NEWS, P.O. Box 7411, Jerusalem 91073, Israel
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a crèche, it's just as fine with me, as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew, went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response:
She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says ‘thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal’, and ‘love your neighbor as yourself’. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with, 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.' Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.
My Best Regards.
Honestly and respectfully,
Ben Stein

Honestly and respectfully,
Ben Stein

Vision For Israel Update
JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE
Prayer Letter – November 22, 2007
JNN NEWS, P.O. Box 7411, Jerusalem 91073, Israel
"On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves." Zechariah 12:4
EREKAT: PALESTINIANS WILL NOT ACCEPT ISRAEL AS JEWISH STATE: Saeb Erekat, Chief Negotiator for the Palestinian Authority, last week rejected the government's demand that Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Erekat said "no state in the world connects its national identity to a religious identity." This is a lie as more than 55 countries comprising of the Organization of the Islamic Conference are entitled to recognition as Muslim states. Twenty two members of the Arab League are universally accepted as Arab states. Why is there a problem with recognizing Israel as the world's single Jewish state? (Haaretz)
PM'S PEACE PLAN PERILOUS FOR ISRAEL: Dani Dayan, Chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, days ago warned PM Olmert that a large-scale territorial withdrawal from Israel 's heartland as part of a peace deal with the Palestinians would involve more than 100,000 people and be like a tsunami. He said it could not be compared to the Gaza evacuation of 8,500 residents and warned that the aftermath of such a large withdrawal would break the backbone of Israeli society. He further warned Israel 's withdrawal from the West Bank would greatly endanger its security, including Ben Gurion International airport. "Olmert is leading Israel to disaster," declared Dayan. ( J.Post) "My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders; for the Lord Almighty will care for his flock." Zechariah 10:3
MOST ISRAELIS WANT OLMERT OUSTED AS PM: A majority of Israelis (55%) believe that the Knesset should suspend or topple PM Ehud Olmert due to the criminal investigations against him, according to a recent poll. A majority (53%) agreed the main reason Olmert is seeking an agreement with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is because he is worried about his personal and political future, and not about Israel 's national interest. ( J.Post)
KNESSET FAVORS BILL REQUIRING 80 MKS TO DIVIDE J'LEM: The Knesset passed, in a preliminary vote last week, a bill that would make it far more difficult to divide Jerusalem in the context of a peace agreement with the Palestinians. An absolute majority of 61 MKs is currently needed to change the basic law, and raising the bar to 80 MKs would make it nearly impossible to gain Knesset approval for concessions on Jerusalem . The bill warns the government it cannot divide the capital a few weeks before the Middle East peace conference in Annapolis , Maryland . (Haaretz) "On that day I will set about to destroy all nations that come against Jerusalem." Zechariah 12:9
CHABAD UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MAMMOTH EMBEZZLEMENT: Police, days ago, arrested the Chabad Youth Organization's Chairman, its Chief Accountant, and several other people suspected of embezzling millions of shekels through tax evasion and laundering money for several businessmen. Police Commander Avi Mantzur, who is heading up the investigation, said enormous amounts of money are believed to have been pocketed by the suspects. (Haaretz) "The Lord enters into judgment against the elders of His people: 'It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses.'" Isaiah 3:14
AHMADINEJAD: CRITICS IN IRAN TRAITORS: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently labeled his critics at home "traitors" and accused them of collaborating with Iran's enemies. Ahmadinejad , who is facing growing domestic backlash over his hard-line policies which have led to UN Security Council sanctions , vowed to soon publicly expose those speaking against him. Iranian civilians , including university students , are increasingly being rounded up , imprisoned and even tortured for voicing opposition to Ahmadinejad's policies. (J.Post) "A cruel man brings trouble on himself." Proverbs 11:17
ANTI-SEMITIC INCIDENTS IN HOLLAND UP BY 64%: Non-violent anti-semitic incidents in Holland have surged by 64% in the past 16 months. Most harassment reportedly occurred on Amsterdam streets and was confined to insults shouted at people wearing distinctly Jewish clothing. Attacks on Jews also took place via email , while others received hate mail through the regular post. (Haaretz)
VATICAN-ISRAELI TIES WORSENING: A senior Vatican diplomat has described Vatican-Israeli relations as worsening. Among the unresolved issues are the status of expropriated church property, services that Catholic groups perform for Israel 's Jewish and Arab population, and tax exemptions for the Church. An additional sore point is the granting of permits for Arab Christian clergy traveling to and around the West Bank . Israel has rescinded some travel privileges for those clergy because of security concerns. ( J.Post)
SECOND CENTURY ROMAN ROAD & BATH FOUND NEAR TEMPLE SITE: Israeli archaeologists last week unearthed remains of a second century terraced street and bath house which provide clear indications of the layout of Roman Jerusalem. The alley was used by the Romans to link the central Cardo public road with a bath house and with a bridge to the Temple Mount . Archaeologists say the street is remarkably well preserved, and remains of the passageway will eventually form part of Jerusalem 's Western Wall tunnel tours for visitors. 1: The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2: To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3: To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4: To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5: A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8: My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10: My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11: If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17: Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18: And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19: So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
20: Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22: How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23: Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24: Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25: But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27: When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28: Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31: Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32: For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33: But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Christians Being Persecuted In Gaza
I have received news of Christians leaving Gaza. It stated that "70% OF CHRISTIANS IN GAZA WILL LEAVE". This is due to the persecution that Christians are having to go through in Gaza. The rest of the story comes from an email from Vision For Israel.
Recent Islamist violence took place in Gaza in which the Christian community was shocked by the kidnapping and murder of Rami Iyad , a 26 year old Christian Gaza resident. Iyad , an accountant in a Christian organization , was approached by a group of people who asked him to convert to Islam , which he refused to do. He was subsequently kidnapped , tortured and shot dead , his body dumped in a field outside Gaza City . Increasing incidents of violence and oppression against Christians in Gaza have resulted in over 70% of Christian community saying they want to leave the area. They see no future for themselves since the Hamas terror group took over. Many say they are afraid. ( INN ) "Jesus wept." John 11:35

Ephesians 1:1-23
1: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8: Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9: Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14: Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15: Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16: Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19: And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20: Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21: Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23: Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

Vision for Israel
JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE
Prayer Letter – September 20, 2007
JNN NEWS, P.O. Box 7411, Jerusalem 91073, Israel
"If My people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face
and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and
will heal their land."2 Chronicles 7:14
YOM KIPPUR: The Day of Atonement , (Yom Kippur) , is considered to be the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. It begins this year , September 21 , at sunset. Both religious and secular Jews take part in a 25 hour total fast , refrain from work and attend synagogue. In Israel no cars move on the streets or highways , and Jewish shops and businesses are entirely shut down. Yom Kippur is a time set aside to afflict the soul and to confess and turn away from the sins of the past year. Repentance is taken seriously in hopes of avoiding God's judgment and finding one’s name written into God's Book of Life. Many hours are spent in the synagogue and in prayer. Services end at nightfall with a long blast on the shofar and are followed by a festive meal.
ISRAEL AIR STRIKE IN SYRIA SHROUDED IN SECRECY: Israel and Syria have been reticent concerning details and motives surrounding an Israeli air strike inside Syria , September 6th. According to media reports released September 15th , the mission into Syrian airspace was an Israeli air strike linked to a North Korean shipment of suspected nuclear material delivered to Syria shortly before the attack. The ship arrived September 3rd in the Syrian port of Tartus . Three days later the IAF allegedly bombed an "agricultural research center" inside Syria , which Israel believed to be a nuclear facility front used by the Syrians to extract uranium from phosphates. Further details said Israel had gathered satellite imagery showing possible North Korean cooperation with Syria on a nuclear facility. ( J.Post) "The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples." Psalm 33:10
SYRIAN 'SURPRISE' FOR ISRAEL: Following news that the Israel Air Force carried out an air strike against a North Korean nuclear shipment to Syria , a UK daily newspaper quoted Israeli officials as saying Syria had been planning a "devastating surprise" for Israel. Preparation for the strike began shortly after Meir Dagan , Chief of the Mossad Intelligence Agency , presented PM Ehud Olmert late spring with evidence that Syria was seeking to buy a nuclear device from North Korea . Dagan feared the device could be installed on Scud-C missiles. "This was to be a devastating Syrian surprise for Israel , " said one official. "We've known for a long time Syria has deadly chemical warheads on its Scuds, but Israel can't live with a nuclear warhead." (Haaretz)
AS MANY AS EIGHT ISRAELI AIRCRAFT INVOLVED IN SYRIAN STRIKE: The UK Observer said Israel 's strike on Syria involved as many as eight aircraft. Reportedly , the force included F-15s and F-16s equipped with Maverick missiles and 500 pound bombs. Flying among the warplanes at great height was an electronic intelligence gathering aircraft. According to the report , an IAF commando team that had arrived on the ground days earlier directed laser beams at the target for the jets. Syria 's ambassador to Washington has denied reports an Israel Air Force strike on his country targeted a nuclear project being undertaken with the cooperation of North Korea . ( UK Observer) "As when a thirsty man dreams he is drinking, but awakens faint with his thirst unquenched, so will it be with the hordes of nations that fight against Mount Zion." Isaiah 29:8
EX-UN ENVOY: IAF ACTION IN SYRIA IS 'MESSAGE TO IRAN' OVER NUKES: Former UN ambassador , John Bolton , said on Sunday Israel's military operation inside Syria earlier this month should be regarded as a 'clear message to Iran' that its nuclear efforts will not be ignored by the international community. "I think it would be unusual for Israel to conduct a military operation inside Syria other than for a very high value target , and certainly a Syrian effort in the nuclear weapons area would qualify , " said Bolton . (Haaretz)
IRAN SAYS 600 MISSILES POINTED AT ISRAEL : Six hundred Iranian Shihab-3 missiles are pointed at targets throughout Israel , and will be launched if either Iran or Syria are attacked , an Iranian website affiliated with the regime stated on Monday. According to the report , dozens of locations throughout Iraq , which are being used by the US Army , have also been targeted. The Shihab missile has a range of 1 , 300 km , and can reach anywhere in Israel . ( J.Post) "Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered!" Isaiah 8:9
GROWING NEO-NAZI ATTACKS IN ISRAEL : Neo-Nazis attacked a 70-year-old woman who was walking on the bridge in Haifa Monday morning. The gang members beat her and shouted out "Heil Hitler , " in the latest of a series of Nazi attacks that began with the arrest of a Nazi gang in Petach Tikva 10 days ago. ( INN ) "Prepare chains, because the land is full of bloodshed..." Ezekiel 7:23
RABBIS BAN JEWISH PARTICIPATION IN ICEJ CONFERENCE: The Chief Rabbinate of Israel has issued a ruling welcoming the Christians arriving for the annual Feast of Tabernacles conference while banning Jews from participating. The event draws tens of thousands of Christians from around the world for a week of teaching , worship , and prayer , and culminates with a march through the streets of Jerusalem . The Rabbis' Decision read as follows: A. [We] bless the [Christian] tourists who will arrive in our Holy Land for the upcoming holidays...B. It is forbidden for any Jew to take part in the gatherings in the Binyanei HaUmah Jerusalem Convention Center and in the marches taking place during the Sukkot holiday , because the information we have states that some of the bodies gathering there are active , inter alia , in attempting to convert us from our faith. "One who fears for his soul will stay far away." ( INN ) "Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God" Acts 5:38-39
ISRAELI ASTROPHYSICISTS HELP FIND OLDEST KNOWN PLANET: Israeli astrophysicists helped discover and are investigating the oldest known planet located some 4 , 500 light years outside our solar system. The V391b Pegasi Pegasi planet revolves around a pulsating star that is shrinking from its red giant status to a white dwarf. Thus far scientists have only been able to theorize about the distant future of earth and other planets when their suns die out , but the Pegasi discovery will now enable astrophysicists to study a planet's characteristics as its sun reaches its demise. ( J.Post) "He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; He seals off the light of the stars." Job 9:7
Succot 2007: Plan to join us September 29 - October 2nd for the 7th year anniversary of the Succot celebration and 40 years of a united Jerusalem. JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE Update
JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE
Prayer Letter – May 22, 2007
JNN NEWS, P.O. Box 7411, Jerusalem 91073, Israel
"Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." Ruth 1:16
SHAVU'OT GREETINGS: Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse staff members wish all of our readers a blessed and happy Shavu'ot. The holiday, known also as the Festival of Weeks, commemorates the time when the first fruits were harvested and brought to the Temple . It also celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai . A well known event occurred in New Testament times on this Jewish holiday. The Holy Spirit fell on the first disciples with tongues of fire and imparted many languages. The Book of Ruth is traditionally read during Shavu'ot, which begins this year Tuesday, May 22nd. Editor's Bias Note: Happy Birthday to our son Ariel who is 18 years old today.
CHRISTIANS TO TRAIN IN ISRAEL ADVOCACY: US campuses are hotbeds of anti-Semitism and anti-Israel activity. In colleges across the US increasing numbers of Christian students are requesting a place beside their Jewish friends to "make the case for Israel ." Last week a program began at California State University , Bakersfield that will train Christian students to defend Israel in the face of campus attacks. It is the first step toward establishing college chapters of Christians United for Israel , on college campuses across the US . (J.Post) "There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24
A HUNDRED AND THIRTY QASSAMS SINCE TUESDAY: Police reports on Sunday, May 20th, disclosed at least 130 Qassam rockets were fired by Palestinian Authority terrorists at western Negev communities since Tuesday, May 15th. More than 400 rockets have been launched at Israeli communities since the supposed "ceasefire" with PA Gaza terrorists on November 26, 2006 . ( INN )
PERETZ DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY IN GAZA PERIPHERY : Following continued Qassam attacks on the town of Sderot , Amir Peretz, on May 20th, declared a state of emergency in the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. The declaration transfers civilian authority power to the IDF's Home Front Command, which can shut down factories and workplaces, and order medical clinics as well as other facilities to remain open. Last summer, during the Second Lebanon War, Peretz declared a similar state of emergency in northern Israel following the Hezballah rocket attacks. (J.Post)
HAMAS TERRORISTS DIE IN IAF AIR STRIKES IN GAZA: Israel began a wave of air strikes against Hamas targets in Gaza on Wednesday, May 16th. IAF forces killed at least three suspected Hamas terrorists in pre-dawn air strikes in Gaza on Sunday as it built up pressure on Islamists terrorist groups to stop firing Qassam rockets into the Sderot area. At least 10 Palestinians have been reported killed in IAF strikes since Friday May 18th. (Haaretz) "They will dwell securely when I execute justice on all those around them who despise them." Ezekiel 28:26
PALESTINIAN ROCKETS IGNORED ABROAD: While Hamas has been raining Qassam rockets on the Israeli town of Sderot , world media coverage has been sparse. Only when Israel began to take military action; after months of exercising restraint in the face of near daily rocket attacks, did the situation receive Western media attention. One US television producer explained apologetically the Sderot story has been going on for years, few people have been seriously injured and photos of shock victims fail to sell. When the IDF began to retaliate, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict suddenly appeared again in the headlines. Making news a market place commodity yields lopsided, distorted coverage of aggression against Israel and its case for retaliation. (Ynet/IHC)
HAMAS BLAMES WORLD FOR GAZA VIOLENCE: Senior Hamas official, Musa Abu Marzouk, recently blamed Western nations, Muslims states, and Israel for ongoing violence and infighting in the Gaza Strip. He said if only the world would send direct aid to the PA, currently under joint Hamas-Fatah control, there would be no "tension" between the two groups. EU spokesman Javier Solana challenged Hamas' self-deception with a crisp reminder the US , United Nations and other global donors to the PA are ready to resume aid when the Hamas terrorist organization recognizes the Jewish nation and renounces violence. ( INN ) "Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets." Psalm 55:11
MUSLIM RELIGIOUS BAN ON LEAVING ISRAEL: The Mufti of Jerusalem last week issued a religious ban forbidding Muslims to leave Israel . Arabs fear young people are increasingly seeking their fortunes abroad. The decree says in part: "Muslims must remain in their places of residence, and not leave them to infiltrators and conquerors." Hamas-affiliated religious leaders issued a similar decree days ago forbidding emigration from the lands of the Palestinian Authority. ( INN )
HOLOCAUST DENIER IRVNG EXPELLED FROM WARSAW BOOK FAIR: British historian David Irving, a convicted Holocaust denier, appeared suddenly at the international book fare in Warsaw and set up his table before fair organizers realized the nature of his materials. When his identity came to light, Irving was asked to leave; received help from the event's employees to pack up his things, then was escorted out of the building and given a free ride to his address. Irving spent more than a year in an Austrian prison for denying the Nazis organized mass murder of six million Jews during World War Two. (Reuters) "Deliver me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies." Psalm 144:11
ARTIFACTS FROM TIME OF DAVID AND SOLOMON REVEALED: Archaeologists, in honor of last week's Jerusalem Day, displayed more than 100 seals and signet rings used to authenticate papyrus documents during the days of Kings David and Solomon. They were viewed by the public for the first time. The Bible-period artifacts were discovered during archaeological excavations underway below Jerusalem 's Old City . ( INN ) "Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures." Proverbs 24:4
