"My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.” Job 16: 20, 21
ATTACK ON TEL AVIV PART OF INTERNATIONALTERROR WAR ON ISRAEL: A suicide bomber killed at least nine people at the Old Central Bus Station in Tel Aviv on Monday afternoon. Over 60 were wounded, many seriously. The explosion occurred at a falafel stand during the middle of Passover week when the streets are packed with families, off from work and school. The attack occurred on the day the 17th Knesset was sworn in. The tragedy is not an isolated PA terror incident, but rather part of a larger-scale war against Israel organized by Iran. According to WorldNetDaily’s Jerusalem Bureau Chief Aaron Klein, Iran is bankrolling and providing additional support for operatives of multiple terror networks to carry out attacks on the Jewish State. He claims, “Iran is the paymaster for Hamas, as well as for Islamic Jihad and Al Aksa Martyr’s Brigades.” (Arutz-7/Israel Today)

IRAN PLEDGES 50 MILLION TO PALESTINIANS: Iran will give the Palestinian Authority $50 million and urged other Muslim countries to follow suit, Iran's top diplomat said Sunday. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki made the announcement at the end of a three-day conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Tehran. The United States, European Union and Israel call Hamas a terrorist organization. They have cut direct funding to the Hamas-led government that assumed power March 30, although humanitarian aid can be donated through non-governmental organizations. (CNN)
IDF: TOO LATE TO STOP TEHRAN DIPLOMATICALLY: On Friday April 14th, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fired a series of verbal shots at Israel, saying it was a "permanent threat" to the Middle East. "The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm," stated Ahmadinejad at the opening of a conference in support of the Palestinians. With projections that Iran could develop a nuclear bomb within the next two-and-a-half years, a high-ranking IDF officer from Military Intelligence said recently that the successful enrichment of uranium announced last week proved that diplomatic efforts to stop Tehran's race to the bomb had failed. (J. Post) “I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.” Exodus 23:27

“ELIMINATING ISRAEL IS ISLAM'S DUTY”: Al-Qaida's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri said that the elimination of Israel is the duty of every believer in a video posted April 13th on the Internet. Al-Zawahri denounced U.S. President George Bush as the "Caesar of Washington" and accused him of lying about progress in the war on terror. "Bush, son of Bush, eliminating Israel is the duty of every believer," al-Zawahri said. "Beggarly clerics ... and every bankrupt propaganda machine is trying to convince the people to bring change by peaceful means, but the Islamic nation knows that its path is jihad (holy war) and the bearing of arms." (Haaretz) “For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter.” Psalm 59:12

EGYPTIAN EDITORIAL LAUDS SUICIDE BOMB: An Egyptian state-controlled newspaper praised Monday's suicide attack in Tel Aviv, which killed nine people and wounded dozens, calling it an act of sacrifice and martyrdom. Egypt has always taken pains to condemn the violence by both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is exceptional for one of the country's three biggest newspapers, whose editor is effectively appointed by President Hosni Mubarak, to endorse a Palestinian attack on Israeli civilians. (Jerusalem Post) “Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high.” Job 16:19
EGYPTIANS ATTACK CHRISTIANS: Egyptian Moslems attacked three churches, killing at least one and injuring 15 others last weekend. Simultaneously, Egypt has released hundreds of former Moslem rebels the past few weeks, including the leader of a terrorist rebel group which killed 48 people in 1997. (Arutz-7) “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10
MOSLEM TERROR CHASING OUT 1,000 CHRISTIAN ARABS A YEAR: About 1,000 Christian Arabs have recently fled Arab-dominated areas because of Islamic terrorism and harassment, according to Reuters News Agency. Examples were cited of Moslems beating up Christians, uprooting their olive trees and scrawling graffiti that show nuns being raped. Hardest hit has been the Christian community of Bethlehem where tourism has declined since the PA began the Oslo War against Israel. (Arutz-7)

PALESTINIANS FEAR AID CUT-OFF: A Palestinian policeman declared last week that if Hamas cannot provide for the Palestinians, it has no business staying in power. "We want to live, with or without Hamas....If it gets worse, then we can just say farewell (to Hamas)." A clerk with the Palestinian Interior Ministry in the city of Nablus, believes the Palestinian people will throw Hamas out of power if the situation deteriorates: "We will have a great mess without salaries...Hamas won't be able to stay in power more than three or four months like this." Until Hamas won parliament elections in January, the Palestinians used to receive nearly $1 billion in foreign aid. (AP/Washington Post) “The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous.” (Psalm 125:3)
HAMAS SEEKS TO TAKE OVER PLO: After having taken over the Palestinian Authority, Hamas now seeks to anchor its power in all the refugee camps throughout the Arab world. Hamas has defined the PLO as its next target for political takeover, demanding elections throughout what the Arabs call the "Palestinian diaspora." This would mean elections in refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan and elsewhere, where Hamas feels it has very strong support. A victory in these elections would help Hamas attain positions currently held by PLO figures, such as the observer post in the United Nations, membership in international organizations and material assets. (Arutz-7)
IDF REPORTS INCREASE IN NUMBER OF WOULD-BE SUICIDE BOMBERS: Security forces have arrested 90 Palestinians suspected of planning to carry out suicide bombings in the first three months of this year, more than half the number of people arrested in all of 2005. The suspects, who security forces said were either on their way to carry out an attack or had expressed their willingness to do so, belong to Fatah, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. (Haaretz) “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)
IRELAND CENSUS FORM OMITS BOX FOR JEWS: Ireland's Jewish community is expressing dismay after learning that the country's upcoming census will not include a distinct category for Jews in the section concerning religious identity. The forms to be used in the census, to take place on April 23, include a question that asks, "What is your religion?" which is followed by seven boxes that respondents may check to indicate their reply. These include Roman Catholic, Methodist and Muslim, but not Jewish. Instead, those wishing to identify themselves as Jews will have to register as part of the "other" category. (J. Post) “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.” Psalm 137:5
JERUSALEM, TEL AVIV ASCEND IN QUALITY OF LIFE SURVEY: Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv were ranked 105 and 114, respectively, in a new quality of life survey conducted by Mercer Human Resource Consulting. Both cities climbed 13 places in comparison to last year, marking the highest rise in rating among the 215 cities surveyed. (Haretz) “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us.” Psalm 90:17
ISRAEL'S LOW-CARB, LOW CALORIE POTATO: A "diet potato," designed to be low in carbohydrates, is being grown in southern Israel and is taking Europe by storm. The new Vivaldi potato contains up to 38% less carbohydrates and half the calories of ordinary potatoes. It is a particular hit in Britain, where it was originally developed and has been marketed as the "slimming potato" and the "dieter's dream." Israel 21c
